I am a proud native Hampton County and a product of Hampton School District One! I've been blessed with a husband (Brad) and three wonderful children (Amari, Austin, and Kya). We spend a lot of time playing sports, attending sporting events, and enjoying the great outdoors. My favorite food is seafood especially blue crabs! I love to relax by beaches, lakes, and rivers while journaling or reading a good book.
I am excited about my new position as a literacy teacher. This position will encompass roles as a Reading Recovery Teacher, Reading Interventionist (small group instruction), and ESOL teacher. I had the privilege to begin my career in 2002 as a pre-k teacher at Fennell Elementary. I've worked in other capacities which include classroom experience in kindergarten, first, and third grade as well as an interventionist for the Gear Up Program and third grade.
My educational training include a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from University of South Carolina Aiken, a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Literacy Specialization from Lesley University, and I have earned my Read to Succeed literacy teacher endorsement.
I believe it takes a village working together to care for children.
I'm proud to be a part of Ben Hazel's village!
